BallistiX BulletProof Single Shot is a two-component, 100%-solids epoxy coating for floors. It is sold for garages, basements, workshops, and commercial spaces—not as a craft, tabletop, or deep-casting resin.

This is a research-based review. We have not purchased, installed, or personally tested Single Shot. The assessment uses BallistiX’s current product listings, technical data sheet, and technical/safety document library.

Quick Verdict

Single Shot is most credible as a high-build floor coating for someone who can properly evaluate and prepare the substrate, stage a fast application, and control temperature, humidity, and moisture. The 3-gallon pre-tinted listing includes two gallons of Part A, one gallon of Part B, and a mixer; it is not a complete garage-renovation package with grinding, crack repair, rollers, footwear, or every required system layer.

The main limitation is not the 2:1 ratio. It is the difference between the documented 10-15 minute pot life and roughly 40-minute working time once the material is spread. A mixed bucket cannot sit while the installer improvises. Coverage also changes sharply with film thickness and floor condition.

Product Identity: Single Shot and Single Shot Reloaded Are Not the Same Listing

BallistiX currently lists both Single Shot and Single Shot Reloaded. The original Single Shot remains available in 3- or 4-gallon listings, while Reloaded is a newer 3-gallon formulation with a separate TDS and different published performance values.

This legacy review is therefore about the original Single Shot represented in the historical URL. It does not silently replace its specifications with Reloaded values. Buyers considering the newer product should read the Reloaded TDS for the exact kit they receive.

What Kind of Epoxy Is Single Shot?

The original TDS calls Single Shot a solvent-less, two-component epoxy coating system. It is positioned for a dense, cleanable floor surface and can be applied in multiple compatible layers. Current sales material describes garage, basement, workshop, and commercial-floor use.

That classification matters. A floor coating is selected by substrate profile, moisture, film build, recoat timing, traffic, and complete system compatibility. It should not be selected by the rules used for molds, jewelry, river tables, or tabletop flood coats.

These times are conditional, not promises for every slab. The TDS says ambient conditions, temperature, and relative humidity affect cure and recoat timing.

The current pre-tinted kit page gives an easier planning estimate of approximately 300 square feet per 3-gallon kit, subject to substrate porosity and application. That aligns with a roughly 100-square-foot-per-gallon finish coat; it does not override the TDS or guarantee that every three-gallon kit covers every nominal 300-square-foot floor.

Surface Preparation and Application Requirements

The original TDS calls for a thoroughly cleaned substrate and mechanical methods such as blasting or water blasting to remove contaminants and oil or grease. BallistiX’s current technical guidance emphasizes that the correct profile depends on the slab and complete coating system.

Before mixing, the installer needs to resolve:

The TDS directs installers to combine Parts A and B at 2:1 by volume with a low-speed drill, then spread a thin, even layer using a rubber squeegee and back-roll it without puddling. The practical takeaway is to plan batches, crew movement, tools, and an exit path before the two parts meet.

Recoat and Cure Schedule

At a substrate temperature above 68°F, the original TDS gives:

The product has a first-party TDS that reports mix ratio, pot life, working time, film builds, coverage, recoat windows, cure stages, and environmental restrictions. That is materially better than a floor coating supported only by marketplace copy.

Useful System-Specific Coverage

Coverage is tied to solid-color, flake, and metallic film builds instead of one inflated universal number. That makes realistic material planning possible.

Current Availability

The original Single Shot remains listed alongside Reloaded. The historical product has not simply vanished, although buyers need to confirm which formulation and document revision their seller supplies.

Limitations

Short Pot Life

Ten to fifteen minutes in a small mixed mass is a demanding window. Warm material, large batches, or leaving it in the bucket can reduce practical handling time further.

Preparation Is a Separate Project

Cleaning alone is not a substitute for the profile, repairs, moisture evaluation, and system design required by the actual slab.

The Kit Is Not the Whole Floor System

The current kit listing names Part A, Part B, and a mixer. It does not establish that primers, repair products, broadcast media, rollers, a topcoat, surface-preparation equipment, or personal protective equipment are included.

Original and Reloaded Data Cannot Be Blended

Reloaded publishes different VOC, application, and performance values. Specifications should come from the label and TDS matching the purchased product—not from a review that treats the names as interchangeable.

Single Shot makes the most sense for an installer who understands high-build flooring systems and can:

Safety and Use Considerations

BallistiX provides TDS/SDS links for Single Shot, and the TDS calls for ventilation, chemical-resistant gloves, and eye protection. CDC/NIOSH advises users of uncured epoxy systems to read the exact label and SDS, maximize ventilation, and select glove material and eye protection for the actual components.

Do not use odor as an exposure gauge. Floor preparation can also create dust and expose old coatings or contaminants, so its controls must be planned separately from resin handling.

Final Assessment

BallistiX Single Shot is a documented, current 100%-solids flooring epoxy with a simple 2:1 ratio but professional-style application constraints. Its strongest points are transparent film-build coverage, a defined cure schedule, and current first-party documents. Its biggest risks are rushed batching, inadequate floor preparation, moisture, and mixing values from the original and Reloaded formulations.

The product deserves consideration for a properly designed interior floor system. It does not deserve to be described as a universal resin or a shortcut around substrate preparation.
